\"woman-791541_1920\"<\/a>When Margaret Myler was 4 years old, doctors diagnosed her with polio. Now, more than five decades later, the Pennsylvanian is experiencing a recurrence of the debilitating disease. Called Post-Polio Syndrome<\/a><\/strong>, the exact incidence and prevalence of the illness is unknown, but often includes fatigue, muscle weakness, joint pain, and breathing problems, symptoms that polio survivors most likely experienced during their first brush with the illness. Although there\u2019s no known treatment for PPS, doctors and scientists are working hard to learn more about its occurrence. Fortunately for Myler, technology treatment isn\u2019t as invasive as what she remembers as a little girl, and she\u2019s on a ventilator as opposed to an iron lung, and wears an orthodic on her left leg instead of a leg brace.<\/p>\n
