Dr. Victoria Gammino, an epidemiologist within the Global Immunization Division of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, thanked members of the Rotary Club of Bristol VA-TN for their continued effort to help eradicate polio. Since 1988, the club, which is based in Bristol, Virginia, has been a involved with spreading awareness about the deadly illness and has raised funds toward furthering the cause. As a way to thank Gammino, the organization donated $500 to Rotary\u2019s PolioPlus Fun in her name and donated a copy of the book \u201cJonas Salk and Polio Vaccine\u201d to the local library. \u201cI interact with Rotary Clubs overseas because I spend my life there,\u201d she said. \u201cHere, Rotaries act as advocates on a national scale by donating funds and supporting what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n
