\"yemen-649026_1920\"The crisis in Yemen has taken a large toll on its citizenry, especially the country\u2019s children. The United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that 320,000 children are facing severe malnutrition, while 2.2 million are desperately in need of humanitarian aid to prevent their health from deteriorating. Yemen\u2019s Health and Population Project (YHPP) has been working in conjunction with UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide care to Yemen\u2019s youngest citizens. YHPP had to suspend its work due to the conflict, however, in January, it resumed its work and approximately 1.5 million children were reached by national polio campaigns. \u201cConflict can have devastating, multi-generational impacts, but by leveraging our partnerships in Yemen, we are able to continue investing in children\u2019s health, which is a vital investment in the country\u2019s future,\u201d said Asad Alam, World Bank country director for Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti.<\/p>\n
