Both are Rotarians focused on ridding the planet of the debilitating disease.<\/p>\n<p>In 1988, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rotary International<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Health Organization<\/a> formed the Global Polio Eradication\u00a0Initiative, there were 350,000\u00a0polio cases\u00a0worldwide. Since then, Beaufort County Rotarians have raised money towards polio eradication including polo matches, a &#8220;Heel to Toe for Polio&#8221; beach walk,\u00a0and a mere week long construction of a home\u00a0on\u00a0Hilton\u00a0Head, which they then\u00a0raffled\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0Polio\u00a0Plus\u00a0funding\u00a0campaign.<\/p>\n<p>On October 24th, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.endpolio.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Polio Day 2017<\/a>, the Northridge Cinema 10 will donate a portion of proceeds from concessions during <a href=\"https:\/\/bleeckerstreetmedia.com\/breathe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cBreathe\u201d<\/a> showings to Rotary International.
