In order to continue the current polio campaign in Nigeria, which was delisted as a country with known polio cases, officials say that $274 million will be needed from foreign donors to continue the campaign through 2016. The executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) noted the sum earlier this week before a press conference in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The event’s focus was on sustainable immunization financing for polio. The executive director added that an additional $287 million will be needed to successfully continue the campaign into 2017, as N40,000 (approximately $200) will be needed to vaccinate each child.
