Injectable Polio Vaccine Launched

Earlier this week, the injectable polio vaccine (IPV) was introduced in Mysuru, a city in India’s Karnataka state. From this point forward, the IPV will be included in a child’s routine immunization plan. V. Srinivas Prasad, the Mysuru minister, says that he instated the IPV as part of World Health Day, a global health awareness day held each April 7 by the World Health Organization (WHO). He added that the IPV will be given along with oral polio drops as part of the immunization schedule, and will eventually replace the oral drops entirely, except for at mass polio immunization drives.
