Naveed Butt, a Pakistani bodybuilder, doesn’t let his polio diagnosis get in his way of competing. He spends most days in the gym preparing for the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia titles, which will be held later this year in the United States. Over the years he has won numerous medals and awards, including the Mr. Olympia title in 2013 and 2014. In 2000, he represented his country during the Paralympic Games in Sydney. But despite being praised as a champion athlete by fans around the globe, there’s an absence of bodybuilding fans among Pakistan’s citizenry. Butt has approached the government numerous times seeking assistance and recognition of his achievements, but his requests have been ignored. “I have managed to defeat polio, and bring home the biggest title in body building, yet I have received no recognition,” he said.
