Three-Day Anti-Polio Drive Kicks Off in High-Risk Districts of Pakistan

An estimated 1.8 million children under the age of five we expected to receive the polio vaccine during a three-day immunization drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province in Pakistan, earlier this week. Thousands of polio workers descended on the area and narrowed their focus down to eight high-risk districts within the province where polio is still considered a threat. According to sources, government officials are being cooperative during this massive push to help eradicate polio, and agree that it’s not the country’s mission to diminish the number of polio cases, but rather to eradicate the disease completely from its soil.
